When the nurse advises her to comply, Juliet goes to see Father Laurence. He hands her a potion that while only putting her to sleep will make her appear dead. He wants to send a letter to Romeo to tell him about this plan and get him back to Verona. But Laurence’s letter never reaches Romeo.
