Synopsis
Movin' Out tells the turbulent story, without using any dialogue, of five friends . Over the course of two decades their lives, and the world in which they live, change irreversibly. The five friends graduate from college in the '60s and have their lives shattered by the Vietnam War. At a time when America finds itself involved in another messy foreign conflict, it is a piece that strikes resonant topical chords.
The plot of Movin' On is carried through Tharp's choreography and 24 of Joel's songs, which include Uptown Girl, We Didn't Start The Fire, She's Got A Way and Movin' Out. The show's music is played live by an on-stage ten-piece rock band.
