THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS A musical play based on Kenneth Grahame's novel : Book and lyrics by Willis Hall : Music by Denis King First performed at Plymouth Theatre Royal in association with Duncan C. Weldon for Triumph Apollo Productions Ltd, 22 November, 1984. Opened Sadler’s Wells Theatre, London January 1985. SYNOPSIS A delightful new dramatisation, with enchanting songs, of Kenneth Grahame's classic tale of riverbank animals - wise old Badger, kindly Rat, gentle Mole and conceited, boastful, bossy Toad, whose crazes for firstly, caravanning and then motor cars, land him in all sorts of trouble and eventually in prison. Toad manages to escape, but not before Toad Hall, his pride and joy, has been overrun by the wicked Weasels. Thanks to the efforts of his kind and concerned friends, however, all ends happily, after an exciting battle to regain Toad's home. "... lyrics by Willis Hall and jingling tunes by Denis King contribute a jaunty atmosphere to the efforts of Toad's woodland friends to curb his craze for cars ... " The Standard "... welcomed warmly..." Daily Telegraph "The high spots will delight unshakeable addicts. The music by Denis King is jolly and likeable...
