SYNOPSIS Set in 1887, the year of Queen Victoria’s Jubilee. In between the pomp and ceremony involving Lords, Ladies and assorted aristocrats, there is the story of Pauline Beam, a “new” woman from the feminist movement, and Lord Charles Graine, scion of the noblest kind, who in spite of social and family differences, end up as husband and wife by the final curtain. The show also offered great spectacle: scenes at Paddington Station, Royal Ascot, the Henley Regatta, and visual processionals of Siamese Princesses, Indian Rajahs, Russian Princes, Hawaiian chieftains.
